Our heritage... 

Our fine dining restaurant and accommodation business was established some 30 years ago and since then has enjoyed an enviable reputation amongst locals and visitors for its food and hospitality.   Consistently good, but sometimes better than others, we are pleased to say that long-term regulars tell us that we are taking it back up to the top!

However, if you know the Chickerell area,  and maybe even our restaurant, in looking for us you might have keyed in "Turks" and be  surprised to have reached this website -  The Heritage Restaurant and Rooms.  Formerly called The Turk's Head Hotel and Restaurant, the name was changed in 2006 to avoid confusion with our neighbour,  The Turk's Head Inn.  We must stress that we are two completely separate businesses: We are the restaurant where you can enjoy fine dining, and we offer accommodation;  the inn is an inn with inn food, and no accommodation. 

Our present-day presence...

We, John and Anne Grove, took ownership of The Heritage in August 2008.  We came from Dartmoor, where we had owned our second hotel and restaurant, a nine-bedroomed country house hotel in the "middle of nowhere".  Idyllic a setting as it was, we have to admit - and Cello, our three-year-old Bouvier des Flandres wholeheartedly agrees with this - that West Dorset is a far more interesting location!For a start, the walks are so diverse - one minute there's the sea, the next you are in the heart of quaint Dorset fields.  What a pleasure!And rural pleasures apart, it is no distance to a plethora of activities in Weymouth, Dorchester, Bridport...it really is the best of both worlds here.

You will see  both or one or other of us on most days front of house.   We believe in being around to see and look after our guests, because we appreciate the presence of each and every one of you.  The gorgeous, playful, often musical,  Cello you will see most days outside restaurant opening times - when she is quite happy to put herself to bed until allowed out again!

Enough about us... We consider ourselves most fortunate to have "inherited" an excellent team of staff, many of whom have been with The Heritage for many years.  Their loyalty and adaptability has been a great help to us in our early stages and we like to think that we work as a team with the ultimate objective for everyone being that our guests are... king!
